How to Host a Flag Football League

Hosting Flag Football at Your Sports Complex

As autumn rolls around, the NFL and college football seasons are in full force. This time of year many of us fondly remember our glory days as high school football stars. Or at least that’s how we choose to remember it, even if we may have served up more water cups than touchdowns. The point is, many of us miss playing football. Unfortunately, strapping on the pads and hitting the gridiron is simply not possible for most of us. Luckily, flag football was invented for just this reason.
If you have thought about hosting a flag football league at your local sports complex but are unsure where to start, you have come to the right place. Today, Sports Facilities Management will give some tips for hosting your very own flag football league.

Start Marketing Early

If you want your football league to be successful, you need to start marketing long before the season is meant to start. You can’t have a league if enough players and teams don’t sign up. Use every avenue possible to get the word out. Social media, advertising at your sports complex, and word of mouth are typically the best way to get the word out. Make sure you have a section on your website that makes it easy and intuitive to register. Also, make sure whoever is in charge of the leagues has their contact information available for players who want to sign up.

Make Sure You Have the Equipment and Setup

You definitely can’t expect your customers to bring their own equipment. If your sports complex is holding a league, you’ll need to provide them with a properly marked field and the equipment that they need to play.

Mind the Details

You can’t leave the details out either. Make sure you have a rulebook for players to refer to, an organized schedule for the season, and the proper insurance for hosting flag football leagues. If you want people to continue to choose your sports complex for their flag football league, you need to make sure to do it right. Sports Facilities Management can help with that.
